Indian Social Welfare Society (ISWS) has been striving for entrepreneurship development in the rural & tribal areas for the benefit of unemployed women and youth since last 15 years. The Organization is making effort to preserve the seasonal fruits production, Alternative Livelihood promotion like tailoring, incense stick making , beautician, Backyard Poultry, Goat farming in gondia, Gadchiroli and Bhandara district by extending the training and requisite support mechanism. The main objectives of the organization are growth of agriculture and allied sector and economic prosperity of rural farmers and establish effective integration and synergy between agriculture and agro-based industries. Food processing ads value, enhances shelf life of the perishable agro-food products, encourages crop diversification and ensures remunerative market price of the agricultural produce by making it more marketable.
There are three major sources of livelihood for rural communities in the Gondia district. They are agriculture, forest produce, and govt. schemes on food security. Agriculture fails due to inadequate rainfall. There are no other means of irrigation in the largest area of farmland. Forest produce is becoming scanty because the forest is finishing. In this case the govt. schemes can play a great role to ensure the food security of the village community. But, there are some lacunas to improve in the system of implementation of the public distribution system. Thus, the marginalized communities who are uninformed and unorganized are deprived of a full meal. As a result, the women are becoming anemic and the children are suffering from malnutrition. In NFHS-3 a very high proportion (79.2%) of children between 6-35 months were found suffering from anemia in the Deori block of Gondia District. Prevalence of anemia was higher among Tribal and Rural as compared to urban children (72.7% to 81.2% respectively). Anaemia is also a serious health problem among adult women in the state.

They have held such diverse professions as making ropes, brooms, being musicians, working with leather, delivering babies, hanging people and being an undertaker. They live in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. They speak Marathi. There are snake charmers, beggars, jugglers, and acrobats among them today. Most of them are now day laborers.
